Step 6 - How to read and understand advanced reports (ShinyStat™ Business)

Campaign referrers - Source details

 ShinyStat Business
How does one go about checking in detail, for each specific campaign, which are the pages and the sites that generated more visits to your site?
In the report Campaign referrers - Source details you can find the single pages which sent visitors to your site from this specific campaign.

In the first table you can see, for the selected time period, the number of referrers pages found and listed in the table below, and the number of visits that they have generated.

Please note that for this report you can select a time period of up to a maximum of 365 days.

Using “search” you can find very quickly all the visits originating from a specific site, entering in the search field an URL, even an incomplete one.
Selecting "complete words" you can search for the exact text entered in the search field.

In every line of the table you will find the following data:
  • the referring URL
  • the number of clicks
  • the number of visits
  • their percentage with respect to the total number of visits resulting from this specific Referrer
  • the trend compared with the previous period
  • the bounces: the number of times when the page was the only page viewed during a visit, that is the number of visits by browsers, coming from the campaign under examination, that entered the site, viewed a single page and exited the website
  • the bounce rate: the percent of visits, coming from the campaign under examination, consisting of a single page view out of the total visits coming from this campaign
Clicking on the Pages (Landing Pages of each Referrer) icon for each referrer, you can access the report that shows the the Pages, ie. the referrer's landing pages where users have entered your site in the selected time period, arriving from the specific referrer for the listed campaign.

Clicking on the “Day-by-day” icon for each Referrer, you can access the report that shows the trend of visits resulting from that specific traffic source, in the selected time period and for the listed campaign.

Bounce Rate
The Bounce Rate, in connection with a traffic source, helps you in understanding the possible reactions of users when arriving on your site from a particular campaign (banner, mail, link, or Pay Per Click).
A high Bounce Rate could be due to a gap between the landing page and the expectations that an ad in the site or in a promotional campaign has generated in the user.
The "Pages" report (Pages) lets you see in detail which pages have a higher "Bounce Rate" for a specific source, providing you with a useful set of statistics to figure out what are the problems for your visitors and optimize your investment.

For more information about Bounces, please take a look at the page called: Bounces - Bounce Rate

Attention! Bounces and Bounce Rate are available since July 2010.

Traffic data from links configured as Google Analytics Campaign are displayed in the "Campaign Referers" report regardless of the traffic source in which the link was clicked (since 14th December 2017).
